How many years have you got left in you? If you’re an average bloke who’s 50, the current Australian Life Tables say you’ve got 32.2 years to go. If you’re an average female, you’ve got another 35.7. But we’re not all average. Ageing is a very personal thing. Over the last fifteen years or so there has been an explosion in well-researched information about the factors affecting longevity and how they could influence each of us.
Lifestyle and genetics are just some of the contributors – things like your attitude, education level, income, whether you like where you live or even having a pet, can influence how long you’ll live. I’ve stumbled across a free online tool called the SHAPE Analyser to help you more accurately estimate how long you’ll live….so you can potentially do something about it. Now that would be an interesting discussion to have. “Live longer” is one hell of a goal. Go on, try it. It’s a bit of fun and will take just a minute or two. I’m very keen to hear what you think.

Spot on Michael. When you know where you stand, you can make more effective decisions about what to do about it.
